Scholars in Action

In alignment with its mission to support innovative and high-achieving scholars within local communities, the Morris and Leah West Foundation awarded scholarships to two graduating seniors from the Class of 2025 as a means of promoting access to higher education.

Seniors in the greater Haines City area attending either Ridge Community High School or Haines City High School were invited to submit an essay addressing the prompt: "How has your academic journey shaped your goals for the future, and how do you plan to use your education at a Florida college to give back to your community?" Each applicant was evaluated based on the impact they have demonstrated both within the classroom and through their involvement in the broader community.

Timmesha Bodison and Hannah Young were selected as the Morris and Leah West Foundation’s 2025 scholarship recipients.

In the fall, Timmesha will begin her studies at Clark Atlanta University, where she will major in respiratory therapy.

Hannah will be attending Polk State College, where she will major in education.

The Foundation is immensely proud of these outstanding young women and the dedication they have shown in working to transform their community. We will continue to support and cheer them on as they pursue their future endeavors.
